The 2016 Sowbug has come to a close. It was really good to get back home and do some tying and chatting with old friends and new. I don’t know if you have ever been to the Sowbug, but if you haven’t, do yourself a favor try to make it down to Mt. Home, Arkansas to see this event. It is run very well by the North Arkansas Fly Fishers. This was the second time I had been able to make the trip down and it always goes too fast. Four hours of tying goes by in a flash when you have a lot of people stopping by your table watching you tie, learn tying techniques, and just chat about how the fly is used or epic days you have had on the water with a particular fly.
All of the local fly shops usually have booths, Dally’s Ozark Fly Fisher, Two Rivers Fly Shop etc. There are also fly fishing Celebrities such as Dave and Emily Whitlock, Davy Wotton, Chad “Mississippi” Johnson are also there showing their art or flies. I didn’t get to spend as much time fishing while I was home as I would have liked, but I still managed to get out for a few hours. Here are a few photos from the river.
